For me, painting begins long before the first brushstroke.
Many of my paintings are born during evenings of prayer, meditation on Scripture, and quiet reflection. As I spend time in God's Word and allow the Holy Spirit to search and shape my heart, visual ideas begin to emerge—sometimes suddenly, sometimes gradually. I sketch these impressions as they come, returning to them later in the studio where they are carefully developed into finished paintings.
Each work is therefore more than a depiction of a subject. It is the result of a personal journey of prayer, contemplation, and craftsmanship with the Holy Spirit. My hope is that these paintings invite others to pause, reflect, and encounter something of the beauty, truth, and hope that have inspired them.
This collection is only the beginning of the journey Christ has set before me. As He continues to reveal new visions and impressions, I faithfully sketch, develop, and catalogue them as I walk with Him.
Working primarily in oils, I create original paintings alongside museum-quality archival giclée reproductions so these works can be enjoyed by collectors around the world.
Thank you for visiting MJFinch Studios. It is my prayer that these paintings encourage quiet reflection and, in their own small way, point toward the light of Christ.
